National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a noble experiment in academic expansion. It inculcates the spirit of voluntary work among the students through sustained community interactions. It brings the academic institution closer to society. It shows how to combine knowledge and action to achieve results, which are desirable for community development. The NSS is a permanent student youth programme of the Govt. of India. The overall aim of NSS is to give a new dimension to the higher education system and orientate the students for community service while they are studying in educational institutions.
NSS volunteers participate in various programmes sponsored by the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, under the Government of India such as National Integration Camps, Adventure Programmes, Republic Day Parade and other Progammes organized by the NSS Regional Centre and Bharathiar University together.
NSS Programme Officers will ensure the basic aims of NSS Programme are achieved … i.e. Personality development of NSS volunteers, Interaction of the different classes of people, Awareness programmes and Special camp (Seven days) in adopted villages.
