DEPARTMENT OF CATERING SCIENCE AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT


B.Sc Catering Science and hotel management is a job oriented course. The demand for catering will be present always because food is basic necessity for us and the demand will exist forever. The department of catering was institutionalized in the year 2002-2003. The infrastructural facilities are innovatively designed, high in quality, contemporary in style, comparable in all metrics to any high end hotel operations.


AIMS AND OBJECTIVES


AIMS


  • To improve the standards of Hospitality Education keeping pace with the Human Resource requirements of the Hospitality industry.
  • To train students on all core areas of hospitality industry.
  • To provide opportunities for Research and Field work in hospitality education and tourism.

OBJECTIVES


  • Provide trained manpower to Hospitality and Tourism industry.
  • Facilitate students in entrepreneurship.
  • Satisfactorily place students in other allied industries.
  • Guide students interested in higher education and research in hospitality sector.

  • There is a holistic approach towards each student emphasizing a constant up gradation in every aspect of a student’s moral intellectual and total personality development with the objective of striving to mould the student into a perfect hotelier.

    • Well equipped computer lab.

SCOPE


Through various specializations in the study period students can choose their interested departments not only in hotels but also in Cruise liners, Railways, Airlines, Institutions, Industrial Catering, Tourism department, own business etc.

The department of catering has 100% placement track record since its inception. Some of our prominent recruiters are Taj Group of Hotels, Leela Palace-Bangalore, Kovalam and Mumbai, The Residency Group of Hotels, Lemeridien , Aloft , Club Mahindra Holidays.


Industrial exposure training


During the period of study [fifth semester] the students are sent for industrial exposure training in reputed hotels for practical exposure.



Industrial Visit


As a part of the curriculum the students are taken for Industrial Visits in order to orient the students on the hotel operations.
